This is a great opportunity to learn from a world-renown reborning artist with over 12 years of experience. Stephanie will provide all the necessary tools for you to create ethnic skin tones and effects on any reborn baby doll. You must be comfortable and knowledgeable in the use of Genesis Heatset paints and all associated materials.

Ethnic Reborn Dolls

Using Genesis, Stephanie will take you step-by-step from first foundations to completed doll.  We'll cover various shades of non-Caucasian skin tones (African American, Bi-racial, Asian, Native American), and how to achieve the most realistic details that bring your baby to life. Once your doll is painted, it's time to give it beautiful micro-rooted hair!  The class will touch briefly on how to select the right mohair and needles for the ethnicity you are seeking to achieve.

When the babies are completed, we will assemble the dolls for a photo shoot.

Provided in Class Fee:  Genesis paints, mediums, sponges, professional Reborner's Select 7 Brush Set by Loew Cornell and small palettes, premium mohair, rooting tools and needles, weighting, stuffing and all other incidentals to complete your doll.

Supply List to bring:

  • A doll kit of your choice, clothing to fit it, a wig if desired (you will not be required to micro-root if you do not wish to)
  • A willingness to learn something new and exciting to add to your doll making repertoire!

China Cupboard Bears grew out of Cindy’s love of Antique dolls and Costuming and was a natural extension of her background in Fashion Design. Cindy started to make stuffed dolls and teddy bears in the late 1980's when her doll collection outgrew the house. She started doing doll shows to weed out her collection and find new things. When she ran out of antique dolls to re-sell, she started to make stuffed dolls and teddy bears. The bears started to sell and a business was born.
