35th Annual Quilt Show at Sauder Village
Tuesday, May 1 – Sunday, May 6, 2012
Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 – 4:00 pm

Workshop Registration:

Don't miss the variety of exciting workshops taught by guest instructor, Karen Kay Buckley. Class sizes are limited, so be sure to register early! All workshops are held at the Sauder Heritage Inn Homestead Room.

  • Confirmation & Workshop Kit Fees: A confirmation and supply list will be mailed to you to confirm your class registration after receipt of your registration and class fees. Workshop Kit fees are in addition to the class fee and are payable to the instructor in class. Unless otherwise noted, bring all basic sewing supplies.

  • Stay on-site: With your Registration, you will be given instructions for making a lodging reservation at the Sauder Heritage Inn or the Sauder Village Campground. All Workshop participants are responsible to make your own lodging reservations at Sauder Village, using a Booking ID # and Confirmation # that will be given to you with your class confirmation. These numbers will give you priority to make a reservation from a block of rooms and campsites being held for confirmed students, available on a first-come basis until March 29, 2012.

  • Cancellation Policy: Cancellation deadline: Friday, April 6, 2012. Cancellation prior to Friday, April 6, 2012 will receive a full refund of your fees paid minus a 10% processing fee. After this date, no refunds will be issued. If classes do not meet the minimum number of students by Friday, April 6, 2012, we may be forced to cancel the class and all fees will be refunded.

  • Admission Passes: Workshop students will receive a complimentary one-day Historic Village and Quilt Show admission pass for each class (excluding the lecture) in which they are enrolled. This personalized pass can be used by the student on any day of the Quilt Show simply by giving your name at the Founder's Hall Admission Desk.

Gallery Walk
with NQA Certified Judge Linda McCuean

Tuesday, May 1, 2012, 8:00 am – 9:20 am
Fee: $30.00 / Members $18.00
fee includes admission to the Quilt Exhibit for the day
Group Size: Minimum 6 / Maximum 25
Location: Founder's Hall

Held just prior to opening the show, Gallery Walk participants will be the first to see the prize-winning quilts and the entire show. Walk the show with one of the judges and hear first hand what a judge looks for in a prize-winning quilt and why they chose the quilts that won. Discussion will focus primarily on the prize winners but the informal format of the Gallery Walk will allow time for questions. One day admission pass to the Quilt Show is included in the registration fee.

Garden Medley

Workshop Kit Fee:  $14 payable to the teacher at the beginning of class
Class Size:  Minimum 12 / Maximum 25
Location:  Sauder Heritage Inn, Homestead Room

Garden MedleyYou will receive the pattern to complete this 3-panel wall quilt, but in class we will work on the center panel. While sewing on this panel you will learn how to achieve smooth curves, wonderful points and perfect circles. Karen will teach you her fun and easy tips to make your hand appliqué look great. You do not need to bring a sewing machine to this workshop.  Machines will be provided for you.

Heard it Through the Grapevine

Heard it Through the GrapevineWhile starting to sew on this 14” square block you will learn to make stuffed bias stems, perfectly round flat grapes, stuffed grapes, dimensional leaves and dimensional flowers. (Karen will expect you to be humming the song during class and dancing like the California raisins!) Sewing machine will not be needed for this workshop.

Ocean Sunrise

Ocean SunriseThis wonderful wall quilt is paper pieced and machine appliquéd. You will be thrilled at how sharp these skinny points will be and how quick and easy it is to machine appliqué these curves. You will have several blocks completed in class with detailed instructions on how to finish your quilt top. You will need your sewing machine for this workshop.

“From the Beginning: Album of a Quilter,”
Awards Banquet and Lecture

Friday evening, May 4, 2012
Fee:  $30.00 / Members $28.00
Location:  Sauder Heritage Inn, Gathering Room

Buffet dinner and dessert catered by the Sauder Heritage Inn.  All special awards for the top prize-winning quilts will be presented.

Following dinner, Karen will take you on a journey through her growth as a quilter.  You will see how the journey started with her first quilt to her most recent work.  She will share the important things she has learned along the way.  You will also see how a project develops and comes to fruition.  Included in this presentation is a slide tour of Karen's home and studio.

Kansas RoseWow, this is a fun project.  You will be amazed how easy it is to get smooth curves and sharp points as you machine appliqué using an invisible stitch.  This project also includes reverse appliqué and a fabric overlay for some added excitement.  Come spend a fun packed six hours and learn lots of tips and tricks.You will need your sewing machine for this workshop.
