Stay on-site: With your
Registration, you will be given
instructions for making a lodging reservation at the Sauder
Heritage Inn or the Sauder Village Campground. All
Workshop participants are responsible to make your
own lodging reservations at Sauder Village, using a Booking
ID # and Confirmation # that will be given to you with your
class confirmation. These numbers will give you priority to
make a reservation from a block of rooms and campsites being
held for confirmed students, available on a first-come basis
until March 31, 2015.
Workshop Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation deadline: Friday, April 3, 2015.
Cancellation prior to Friday, April 3, 2015 will receive a
full refund of your fees paid minus a 10%
processing fee. After this date, no refunds will be issued.
If classes do not meet the minimum number of students byFriday, April 3, 2015, we may be forced to cancel
the class and all fees will be refunded.
Admission Passes: Workshop students
will receive a complimentary one-day Historic Village and
Quilt Show admission pass for each class

Multiple day workshop students will receive a complimentary one-day pass for each day they are enrolled. This personalized pass can be used by the student on any day of
the Quilt Show simply by giving your name at the Founder's Hall

Working with Mary’s original design, each student will stitch a 28” appliqué block of a ruched basket filled with a wide variety of three dimensional floral blooms. Most of the flowers will be constructed “in hand” and then arranged in the basket. Additionally, each student will learn how to design their own soft edge appliqué border. This design will make a beautiful wall hanging or center medallion for a bed sized quilt.

Learn to design and draft templates, cut precisely, and sew inset curves. You will conquer curves using Bill’s original Eclipse design. The pattern will be provided to make either a wall hanging or a napping quilt. Using your own fabrics, you will learn about value and create a unique variation of the Eclipse quilt.

Develop analytical methods for using color with confidence through individual and group color explorations. You will leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of the role of color in your quilts and with a renewed excitement about quilting.

Learn to analyze and understand fabrics then apply what you've learned to create palettes for future projects. Learn how a variety of illustration styles, scales and patterns in fabric make for a more interesting quilt while expanding the range of fabrics you can use with confidence. Note: This class is a no-sew workshop. It is about the process of understanding and selecting fabrics. Students can document palettes they create by gluing swatches in journals.

Many quilters love large-scale prints but find it challenging to combine them effectively with other prints. Students will learn the design concepts behind using large-scale prints and how to show them off to their best advantage. Students will begin making our Follow the Leader quilt or a project of their choice if they already have something in mind.

Dinner and dessert catered by the Sauder Heritage Inn. All special awards for the top prize-winning quilts will be presented.
Early American quilts were born of necessity but have been transformed into a vibrant contemporary art form. We trace this transformation as it parallels changes in art, architecture, design and society. We will show how our quilts are expressive of the era in which we live.

Learn different techniques for improvisational piecing and choose one to develop a new project. Bill will guide you through a strategy that will have you making design decisions as you go. Students can begin making our Call Me Crazy, Just Passing Through or Glyphs quilt.
