We have another amazing and inspiring Rug Hooking Week planned for you. Here are just a few updates and tidbits to tell you about; we will add more to our Facebook page throughout the year.
Exhibit News…After building a dozen more exhibit panels this year, we were able to increase the number of Featured and Special Exhibits, so be sure to see all the details on the exhibit page.
Class News… We now offer six three and four day retreats to choose from and many more half, full, or two day workshops taught by over two dozen remarkable teachers.
Book News…. There are lots of new rug hooking books coming out. Authors such as Polly Minick, Laurie Simpson, April DeConick, Susan Feller, and more will be joining us for book signings, as teachers, and as vendors.
Friday Night Hook-In News….We’re adding a Round Table discussion to the Friday Night Hook-In. The topic will be the “Celebration Competition & Award Winning Rugs.” It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics with Editor Debra Smith, Celebration judges, and finalists.
Vendor News… In addition to our wonderful selection of returning vendors, Polly Minick, Laurie Simpson and Leonard Feenan will be vending this year.
Please join us for the 16th Annual Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village! Whether you come to see the exhibit of 350-600 rugs, shop at over a dozen vendor booths, attend one of the many classes or visit the historic village, and whether you visit for a couple of days or the entire week, come enjoy the fun, friendship, relaxation, education, inspiration and memories!
See you in August!
Kathy Wright, Director of Rug Hooking Week
(If your group is interested in attending, if you have an inspiring idea or exhibit suggestion, or if you are interested in teaching or vending, contact me at wrighttraditions@aol.com or 859-745-5740).
Sauder Village is honored to host this
exciting annual rug hooking event, and appreciates your
support and participation to ensure the continuation and
celebration of this traditional art form.
For over 35 years, Sauder Village has
offered guests experiences rich in history, hospitality,
creativity, and fun. Our living history museum preserves the
stories of the past and features artisans of traditional
American crafts, making Sauder Village an ideal venue for a
week of rug hooking activity. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization, Sauder Village relies on support from
admissions, retail sales, and donations to sustain the
mission, as well as the attendance and involvement of our
members and volunteers.
Check-in on Monday
afternoon, enjoy a meal with other students and instructors Monday evening, and
prepare to spend three or four full days of concentrated rug hooking study with a select
teacher in a beautiful venue. Instructors are assigned on a first-come basis, so
register early.
Retreat Students are invited to attend the Tuesday Night Private Preview of
the Exhibit & Vendors.
