Dear Quilting Friends,
I hope all of you are
enjoying your summer. The season for graduation parties is over
for most of us and now the weddings are beginning. So many
opportunities for giving quilts to mark important occasions for
the special people in our lives!
If you have gift quilts to make this summer, this is just a
friendly reminder that the discount coupon you received when you
made a purchase at Threads of Tradition during our quilt show is
still valid until June 30th. When you come in to plan your next
project in the next few weeks, be sure to bring it along!

Christmas is
Coming!
The arrival of summer heat is a sure sign of one
thing---Christmas fabric is arriving in quilt shops around the
country and Threads of Tradition is no exception! Many of our
Christmas collections have arrived, with the remaining groups
scheduled for delivery yet this month. These seasonal fabrics
include everything from elegant
collections with metallic
accents to fun-loving novelties with gingerbread or snowmen. Colors range from the traditional red and green to a
contemporary look of soft teal, green, blue and silver. “This
and That” has published a fantastic book titled Frosted Memories
that gives you a wide variety of ideas on how to use their
traditional Moda red and green fabrics with a woodsy flair.
Also from Moda, just arriving today, is a more contemporary
Christmas fabric group called Figgy Pudding. Color
combinations of deep red, juniper green, chocolate brown and
soft blue create a stunning new look. Holly, peppermints, trees,
pepperberries, snowflakes, wrapped gifts and even poinsettias
combine in this diverse group for a collection with limitless
possiblities. Let your imagination soar and create something
special with Figgy Pudding!
Other
Great Fabrics, Too
Elizabeth Studios, the fabric designers who
brought us the fun and extremely popular Fruit Ladies fabrics
have done it again with their new Country Quilts
selections. These fabrics feature Diane Phalen’s paintings of
quilts shown in beautiful outdoor settings. Choose from a panel,
coordinating prints, a crosswise stripe of quilts on a fence,
and individual small vignettes just begging to be
fussy cut!
Seeds of Faith fabrics consist of a panel with
faith-based quotations and coordinating prints, perfect for
encouraging those who are going through tough times. Buggy
Barn’s classy new group, Iced Mocha blends the popular
colors of chocolate and soft teal into plaids, prints, and tone
on tone basics.
Just for fun, the Metro Market funky chicken print
combined with the egg-shaped black and white dots sews up just
too cute into a Four Corners Apron for the cook in the family.
Other prints in this group include a multi colored apple, a
daisy print and white dots on several colors of bright
coordinates.
For gardeners or produce lovers, new fruit and vegetable fat
quarters have arrived from Farmer John’s Marketplace and
Paintbrush Studios. Buy the entire collection or pick and
choose from our produce basket!

Nifty New Notions
Clover introduced a couple of handy new tools at the Pittsburgh
Quilt Market. The Stack ‘n Store Bobbin Tower neatly
organizes 30 bobbins with the ability to stack more holders on
top to hold even more bobbins. It will hold any type of bobbin
and secures thread ends to eliminate tangles. Convenient and
compact, you can see thread colors at a glance.
The Natural Fit Leather Thimble features two layers of
leather for increased safety and is sewn 3-dimensionally to fit
the shape of your finger. Needles can be pushed with either the
tip or the sides of this thimble allowing for maximum
flexibility of stitching style. If you prefer the comfort of a
leather thimble, give this new style a try.
