We have all experienced the frustration of turning those little tubes inside out. Compact and handy, this product will reduce your frustration and make your project much simpler.
Karen Kay Buckley will be coming to Quilt Show 2012 as our guest artist. One of her favorite products that she promotes and markets is the Perfect Scissors in small and large sizes for different tasks. Now I know you’re wondering what makes these scissors so perfect, aren’t you? I love them because they are lightweight and have extra large finger holes so they are easy to pick up and put down again. The handles are also comfortable and soft and the blades are micro serrated. The advantages of a micro serrated blade is that it keeps fabric from slipping so cutting is more accurate, it helps to prevent frayed edges and it will easily cut up to 8 layers of cotton fabric! I’ve always loved my Ginghers shears but I think I also need a pair of these, maybe in both sizes!

Fabulous Fabric
Of course no quilting newsletter would be complete without talking about beautiful fabrics, the first love of most quilters! We have new fabric collections in almost all the categories that we carry—from historical Dear Jane preprinted blocks and borders, Christmas panels of the Nativity and also a traditional Santa, to folksy novelties by Mary Engelbreit. Not to be forgotten are the Sunshine Resort fabrics featuring the infamous Lauralie ladies and also Rail Heroes with all the Thomas theTrain characters. Stunning new batiks from Robert Kaufman have been added to our shelves along with a black, gray and lime green collection called Scribbles by Avlyn. Black and gray are extremely popular colors right now and are featured in a wide variety of prints in the Lost and Found collection by Riley Blake. The pictures included here are a teaser to give you a general idea what these collections look like, but as always, they are much more appealing in person, so stop in soon to see and touch these cotton beauties.

Inspiring New Quilts
Threads of Tradition staff members have been busy sewing and I think you will like the results! Eric Carle’s well-loved book The Grouchy Ladybug is the inspiration for the brightly colored twin sized quilt by the same name. The classy black and gold metallic fabrics in Prancing Pinwheels make an elegant statement in a quilt perfect for Christmas or anytime. Kits are available for both of these new quilts.

Curby’s Closet tiny quilted baby shoes and cowboy boots are drawing a lot of attention in the shop. Stitch them up in colors of your choice to match an outfit or in theme fabrics for unique baby gifts.
Big and Bold, a pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs is eye-catching in any combination of fat quarters. Stitch it up in Christmas fabrics, or soft feminine florals or even bright novelty fabrics for different members of the family. It stitches together very quickly, can be made in throw, twin, queen and king sizes and the choice of fabrics dictates the look of the quilt.
I’m not trying to send you into a panic, but I just realized that Christmas is only sixteen weeks away. So it’s time to be making your list of supplies needed for all the hand made gifts you plan to give this year and warming up that sewing machine. Let the
creative process begin!
Happy stitching and gifting,
Linda
